Reaching remote schools
This program is available for schools outside our standard touring areas, including those in rural, remote and isolated areas.
About the Remote Schools Program
Queensland Arts Council has been touring to remote and isolated communities and schools for over 40 years. Our access has changed over the year depending on available funding, however we have remained committed to equity of opportunity for all schools regardless of their geographical location.
Invite artists into your community with our Artists-in-Residence program
We have developed a series of opportunities for schools in remote areas through specially devised Artist-in-Residence projects. These projects take artists out to your school, or cluster of schools, for one to three weeks at a time, creating an engaging community wide performance and workshop experience.
Schools are not limited to the residencies identified in this program. The Ontour inschools team can tailor residencies to suit your school and community needs. It is useful to apply to PCAP for financial assistance with residencies.
Because these residencies are for longer periods of time, they are possible for all areas of Queensland. See the Artists-in-Residence pages, and some of our success stories with remote schools.
