Fighting for live arts access for small schools
Committed to providing an estimated 40,000 students in small, remote and regional schools with the benefits older generations have enjoyed for decades, Queensland Arts Council is offering schools with less than 100 students the chance to apply for a Subsidy Scheme to assist in covering the $600 minimum charge to receive a performance.
Ontour inschools relies on the support of government, philanthropic foundations and donors to cover the necessary administration, increased fuel costs, performers fees, accommodation and transport to reach schools that do not enjoy the benefits of large enrolments or ready access to regional centres.
When it comes to reaching small schools, every dollar counts; just $600 of collective donations is one school performance. Individuals can help by donating to Queensland Arts Council’s remote and small schools appeal.
