Ontour inschools 2010 takes students to new places

This multi-strand live arts program tours some of the state’s leading artists and performing arts companies, including Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre; the dynamic Harvest Rain Theatre Company; Australian Stage Magician of the Year, Richard Scholes and expert puppeteer and three-time Queensland Entertainer of the Year David Hamilton.

Providing more opportunities for students to wholly engage with performing arts and unpack its benefits, the program also includes Artists in Residence, Workshops and Master Classes and shows On Demand.

Many performances reflect relevant themes and issues affecting students, including body image, peer pressure, bullying and dealing with emotions; and others address major topics of school study. The program is designed to complement Key Learning Areas of the Queensland curriculum and is quality assured by and funded with assistance from Education Queensland.

Ontour inschools relies on the support of government, philanthropic foundations and donors to subsidise performances for small, regional and remote schools.
